Bees not Bats!

A large beehive was discovered recently on a Bristol wind farm. The colony of bees was found within and outside of a bat box attached to a birch tree. I've often seen wild bees and wasps take up residence in bird, bat and dormouse boxes possibly illustrating the lack of suitable sites for these important species of insect. As bees and other insects are an increasing concern maybe we should see more insect boxes included in development rather than just concentrating on the more charismatic and protected species. It would be a cost-effective and easy gain for biodiversity as a whole.
